WHG Completes First Sewing Training Cohort in Goma
With financial support from the Polish Eagle Watch Foundation, World Hope Givers (WHG) completed the first cohort of its sewing, tailoring, and entrepreneurship training program in Kyeshero Quarter, Goma on 7 August 2026. The initiative supports vulnerable young women, including young single mothers and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
As part of the project, 20 young women and girls each received a sewing machine with a foot pedal, along with the necessary sewing materials to help them start or strengthen their income-generating activities.
The handover ceremony was held in the presence of WHG staff, local partners, and orphaned children hosted at the Eagle Watch/WHG Centre in Goma.
The support aims to enable beneficiaries to apply the skills they acquired during the training, generate sustainable income, strengthen their financial independence, and improve the well-being of their families.
Through this initiative, WHG, with the support of the Polish Eagle Watch Foundation, continues to promote economic empowerment, resilience, protection, and socio-economic reintegration of vulnerable young women and girls affected by conflict and SGBV in eastern DRC.
