Integrated Protection and Humanitarian Mine Action Response for Conflict-Affected Populations in Fizi and Goma, Eastern DRC.

A project currently being implemented by World Hope Givers (WHG) in partnership with DanChurchAid (DCA), with financial support from DANIDA. During the implementation period, the project strengthened child protection, identification, case management, psychosocial support, referral, and community prevention mechanisms in Goma. Vulnerable children, including separated, unaccompanied, and street-connected children, were identified, assessed, and referred to appropriate services, including shelter, psychosocial, psychological, and medical support. The project implementation remained largely in line with the initial plan. However, the continued deterioration of the protection context, population movements, and increasing numbers of vulnerable children created additional pressure on shelter and response capacities. WHG adapted its interventions through strengthened case management, referrals, coordination with protection actors, and family tracing and reunification efforts. The main challenges were the increasing protection needs, limited available services and shelter capacity, and the complexity of individual cases. Despite these constraints, the project maintained its key interventions and continued providing essential protection and psychosocial support to vulnerable children.
